"The Party" is the pilot and rare episode of As Told by Ginger that was produced in 1998, and the only episode not available on Paramount+. It was aired on October 9, 2015 on The Splat (now renamed NickRewind).

This is a special episode because it shows what the characters were initially going to look like before major changes or cuts were made in the following episode, "Ginger the Juvey."

Synopsis[]

Ginger is invited to Courtney's party, but there's one problem, she has to babysit Carl. She takes Carl to the party and ties him up with a hose in the backyard.

At the party, the kids play spin the bottle. Ginger spins and it lands on her crush, Ian Richton. Just before they are about to kiss, Blake, Courtney's younger brother, comes in wearing only his underwear and ruins the party by telling the guests that Courtney stuffs her bra. Ian sneaks Ginger a kiss anyway. Meanwhile, Dodie and Macie have their own party at Dodie's house.

Differences[]

The sections lists the notable difference between this episode and the future series:

  • In "The Party," Ginger and her friends dress more tomboyish, with a mid-to-late 1980s and early '90s style.
  • In "The Party," Miranda and Darren were white with Darren having purple hair. He also made squeaky sounds which the producers removed worrying it would leave viewers annoyed. After this episode, Miranda and Darren were changed to be black, while Darren's hair color was changed to black as well.
  • In "The Party," Courtney used to have the same eye style that Ginger and her friends have.
  • In "The Party," Ginger had hair that closely resembled Didi from the Rugrats, looking almost similar to her mother. Her hair was changed significantly in the future episodes.
  • In "The Party," Darren is voiced by Bradley Pierce and Blake is voiced by Tara Strong who were re-casted in future episodes.
  • In "The Party," Miranda's last name in the end credits is spelled as "Killagen." However, in the next episode and onwards, her last name would become "Killgallen."
