Sleep On It is the fourth episode of the first season of As Told By Ginger which was first broadcast on November 15, 2000.
Summary[]
Courtney invites Ginger to a slumber party at her mansion, but Miranda and Mipsy have a plan to embarrass her. Meanwhile, Carl plans with Hoodsey to steal back his Petrified Eyeball.
Plot[]
Courtney overhears Ginger, Dodie, and Macie talking about a slumber party. She asks Miranda more about it, and decides to throw her own, despite not knowing how to. Later, she brings up the idea to her mother, Claire. Claire is confused about the idea of a slumber party, but since Courtney really wants it, she agrees to let her daughter throw the party. Blake demands to have a slumber party as well, so Claire allows Blake to invite one friend to spend the night.
Courtney and Blake head to the Foutley house to invite Ginger and Carl in person. Ginger says she would love to go, but needs her mother's permission. Blake goes to the doghouse to ask Carl to spend the night, but balks when he sees Hoodsey. Hoodsey declines to go, saying that he is busy. Afterwards, Ginger calls Dodie and Macie, telling them what has happened. Dodie is excited about this event, fretting over what Ginger will wear and how to cover up her snoring. Macie says that Ginger may not get another chance at this, so Ginger decides to ask her mother.
Lois allows Ginger to go, but Carl announces that Blake has invited him over as well, much to Ginger's disapproval. Carl states that the he plans to get his Petrified Eyeball back from Blake. Since Carl hasn't done anything recently to warrant a grounding, Lois allows him to go.
The following day, the gang meets up at the Bishop house where Joann is holding her book club. Dodie and Macie prepare Ginger for the party, quizzing her on Courtney's other friends and what to do during "Truth or Dare." Meanwhile, Carl and Hoodsey make their plan to steal the eyeball. Carl will use a stink bomb to drive Blake away while Hoodsey sneaks in and takes the eyeball back to the doghouse. Carl decides to test the stink bomb's potency by opening the jar that it is in. The stench causes the members of Joann's book club to run screaming from the house, just as Lois arrives to pick up her kids. Lois grounds Carl for his actions and tells Ginger that she will have to miss the party at Courtney's since no one else can watch Carl.
Fortunately, Dodie and Macie agree to watch Carl while Ginger goes to the Gripling's party. Carl, determined to get his eyeball back, sends Hoodsey to the Gripling mansion in his place. He gives Hoodsey a camera concealed in a fanny pack, as well as Maude's old hearing aid, so that they can stay in contact through their mission. Hoodsey mentions that he doesn't want to sleep over due to his bedwetting problem. Carl suggests that Hoodsey not eat or drink anything while he is at the party.
Ginger arrives at Protected Pines and rings the doorbell. Courtney and Miranda let her in, but are caught off guard by the fact that she arrived on time. Courtney shows Ginger her lavish bedroom, covered in faux fur and rhinestones. Courtney says that the guests will be sleeping in a different room, but Ginger proposes that everyone sleep in the same room. She also mentions that people arrive on time for slumber parties to maximize time for songs, stories, and snacks. Courtney is intrigued by Ginger's slumber party knowledge and the two of them move the furniture around to make room for the rest of the girls, who are arriving at that moment.
After the rest of the girls arrive, Hoodsey gets to the door. Blake is disappointed that he is there, but lets him in regardless. Blake suggests that they spy on Courtney's party. Carl watches Hoodsey's movements on his camera feed, but is interrupted by Dodie and Macie. They try to bring him back into the house, but are distracted by the camera footage of Courtney's party.
The girls start to play "Truth or Dare," and Miranda picks Ginger to go first. Ginger chooses "truth." Courtney asks what Ginger's deepest secret is, and Ginger responds that it is her crush on Ian Richton. Miranda notices someone outside of Courtney's bedroom, but when she goes to investigate, Blake and Hoodsey have left. The fanny pack with the camera has fallen off of Hoodsey's body. Miranda tosses the fanny pack onto the bed and goes back to the party.
While the girls continue with party games and scary stories, Carl tries to get Hoodsey to focus on his mission. But Blake's snacks and hot chocolate are making it hard for Hoodsey to stick with his liquid deprivation. When Blake is distracted, Hoodsey spots the petrified eyeball. He takes it off of the shelf and Carl orders him to return to the doghouse. But, Blake offers Hoodsey some leftover food, distracting him again.
When Hoodsey was getting a midnight snack in the kitchen, Miranda and Mipsy enter. Hoodsey hides in the pantry and overhears their plan to pull a prank on Ginger. They are going to make her wet her sleeping bag by putting her hand in warm water while she sleeps. Hoodsey sneaks into Courtney’s bedroom, and takes the cup that Ginger's hand was in, but his extreme thirst makes him drink the water. He immediately falls asleep near the door. But, the next morning he wakes up to the girls (minus Ginger and Courtney) teasing him for wetting himself. Courtney gets angry about her white carpet, her nearby teddy bear, and her slumber party being ruined. But, Ginger tells Courtney and the other girls off about being so hard on Hoodsey. She then asks Courtney if she ever wet her bed before, which Courtney denies. Ginger tells her, "If you're not going to tell the truth, you should just say 'Dare,'" and leaves the party with Hoodsey.
Back at the Foutley house, Ginger thanks Hoodsey for saving her from Miranda's prank. Carl congratulates Hoodsey for not only getting the eyeball back, but for "leaving his mark" in Courtney's room. The episode closes with Ginger writing in her diary that before she and Hoodsey left the Gripling house, she put one of Courtney's bras into the freezer.

- When Dodie and Macie are watching Ginger at Courtney's sleepover, Dodie says "Not your hairy legs, Ginger." This foreshadows a major plot point in the episode "Cry Wolf".
