The Meaning of Life Lesson[]

"Sometimes you gotta accept a little bad with every good.

Take Carl for example: A long time ago I learned that if I just ignore his bad side, life's a whole lot happier for all."

- Lois Foutley

Synopsis[]

Macie and Ginger are nervous about vacationing with Dodie's family to Loon Lake because they feel Mrs. Bishop is a little intense. Carl and Hoodsey plan to make a movie based on an escaped mental patient that is believed to be hiding in the Loon Lake area. When they sneak out of the cabin in the middle of the night, Joann and the girls go looking for them, only to run into the real lunatic.

Plot[]

The episodes starts in a lake area, when some police cars drive past, and a newspaper flies by, which has a photo of a strange man of the front. Macie presents this newspaper to the class, mentioning that Carl showed it to her. She reports that the man, Floyd Box, AKA Crazy Floyd, decided to check onto the the lakeside institution, without his psychiatrist letting him do so. It is also believed that Floyd is still on the loose. Mrs. Zorski informs Macie that her assignment was to make a report involving her own life, but she claims that it is, since she and Ginger will be going on a vacation with the Bishops in Loon Lake tomorrow, the same place in which Crazy Floyd is suspected to be hiding. Mrs. Zorski also tells Macie that the "newspaper" is actually a tabloid. Afterward, the bell rings, and Mrs. Zorski dismisses the class and wishes them to have a great vacation, which will be for 11 days.

Miranda tells the trio that Mrs. Gripling invited her to go on a Caribbean cruise, which she claims to be a big difference between her and the Bishop's vacation. Dodie defends herself by saying that the Griplings won't be making maple syrup on their trip, but Miranda doesn't care. She still thinks Ginger will have a fun vacation on their trip, and leaves, while Macie warns her to watch out for a sun stroke, while Miranda mockingly warns her to watch out for Crazy Floyd. This makes Macie worry.

Meanwhile, a video camera is taken into the boys bathroom, and the cameraman (Hoodsey) walks into one of the stalls, where Blake is using the bathroom, and he shouts at them for what he and Carl are doing. He angrily demands an explanation, and Carl tells him he is the star of their documentary "Survival of the Fittest", or in Blake's case, "The Unfittest." Carl tells Blake that they're taping him to see if he is capable of surviving in the woods. Blake claims that he is a runner-up in the "Young Explorer" contest, where he will be expected to survive alone, in Loon Lake for 2 days. Carl still doubts that Blake will make it out of the woods will Crazy Floyd around, catching his attention. Blake accuses Carl of trying to scare him, but walks out of the bathroom starting to hyperventilate, then screams.
