Piece of My Heart is the seventeenth episode of the first season which was broadcast on April 29, 2001.


Hoodsey invites Macie to the dance disguised as a "mystery man" because he has a crush on her. Meanwhile, Darren thinks that Courtney invited him to the dance, but she really invited his older brother, Will. Also, Carl and Blake team up to retrieve a pig's heart so they can save a cow's life.

  • Courtney mentions that she and Will take high school French together. A callback to the episode "The Right Stuff".


  • This episode is dedicated to the memory of Lewis Arquette, the voice of Mr. Cilia. His cause of death was congestive heart failure. He passed away two months before this episode aired. 
  • The title of the episode "Piece of My Heart" shares the same name as the song by Janis Joplin. 
  • When Ginger rings the bell at the Patterson's residence, the sound of the bell is from the Pickles' residence from the "Rugrats".
